Members of the North Hills Amateur Radio Club, along with the Pittsburgh Council of the Seneca District of the Boy Scouts of America, will be taking part in the Jamboree On the Air Saturday, October 18, 1997 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
During those hours, scouts and amateur radio operators will be attempting to contact other Jamboree sites around the world using the amateur radio frequencies of 80, 40, 20, 10, and 2 meters. Scouts will have the chance to learn about radio and have the fun of contacting each other. Locally, the USS Requin, the submarine at the Carnegie Science Center, will also be on the air taking part in the Jamboree using the call W3XX.
The North Hills Amateur Radio Clubs site will be at the St. Johns Lutheran Church on Cumberland Road in McCandless. All boy scouts, girl scouts, cub and brownie scouts as well as their parents and friends are welcome to visit.
